Founded in 1990, the Commerce Children’s Center is located on site at the Department of Commerce Laboratories in Boulder, Colorado. We are a year-round NAEYC accredited program that provides care Monday through Friday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm. We are a federal child care facility following the federal holiday closure schedule; we are closed two additional days each year. Our first priority is to provide care for federal families. We also accept families who are not federal employees on a space available basis.
The Center cares for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. We serve a morning and afternoon snack and a nutritious home-cooked lunch that includes organic milk and fresh fruit and vegetables. The Center has eight classrooms, four outdoor play yards, and an outdoor garden area. The Center also has an indoor gross motor activity room. Our location provides access to open space, walking trails and beautiful mountain views. The highest level organization having responsibility for the Commerce Children's Center is a not-for-profit corporation known as the Commerce Children's Center Association, made up of families with children at the Center and any individual who contributes to the Center through time, services, funds, or in-kind donations. The CCCA contracts with Childcare Partners Initiative for the day-to-day operations of the Center. Finally, the Center has a Parent Advisory Committee whose primary objectives are to create a quality education, safe environment, and positive social experiences for the children through activities designed to promote parent interaction and staff retention.
